Minimally Invasive Spine Surgeries with

Tampa Bay Orthopaedic and Spine offers a comprehensive approach to patients who require surgery for their spinal issues. We are one of only a few centers where most of our surgeries, including lumbar fusion surgery, are performed through small surgical tubes resulting in less trauma, less blood loss, less post op pain and quicker recovery.

Neck & Back Surgeries

Below is a list of the various surgeries available through our doctors.

Posterior and Anterior Disc Decompression

This minimally invasive surgery allows patients with smaller herniations of the neck or low back to obtain relief of neck or back pain with very minimal trauma to the spine by using a small tube placed within the herniated disc. Once the disc is accessed, a device and/ or a grasper is then placed inside the disc to remove, shrink and ablate the disc material providing the opportunity for the herniated disc to withdraw over time and painful symptoms to resolve. This surgery is performed through a ¼ inch incision with quick recovery of less than a week and certain lifting and bending restrictions for approximately 4 to 6 weeks.

Facet Capsuloplasty Surgery

This surgery is performed for patients with known damage to the joints of the lumbar spine ( low back ). Often trauma can injure the joint coverings known as joint capsules. Tears in these joint capsules can result in significant pain. This surgery uses laser to assist in repair of these joint capsules and additionally to ablate the tiny nerves entering the joint. So once the pain from the performed surgery resolves, the patient has the opportunity for both immediate and long term relief of their joint pain. Recovery is usually around 3 weeks.
